An 80’s Prom and A Band Who Destroyed the Knitt on The Holy Visions Tour 2026

Knitting Factory, Boise,ID
AFI, Choir Boy
April 22, 2026
So, the few people I talked to at the AFI           show did not know who Choir Boy was. I would find out soon after I get through the doors. That didn't take too long. Walking into the room full of haze ready for the show to come. The crowd filled in the space fast, after all it was a sold out show at the Knitting Factory here in Boise,ID.

I wouldn't realize it yet but shortly I was about to be taken back to the 80's. Well I don't remember the 80s so this would be what TV made me think it was like...think Breakfast Club or more recently “Stranger Things”. Choir Boy, a synth pop band from nearby Salt Lake City, UT took the stage and they had the whole place feeling like a 1980s’ prom. Lots of synth with some keys, a strong bass and guitar. The lead singer Adam Clopp dressed for the occasion in acid washed jeans and bleach stained black T. His vocals are powerful but smooth just like the music. Limited on crowd interactions but not on his dancing. The band as a whole was clean. Even if my sisters made it hard to listen to this style of music I can respect the work that goes into it. Not too bad Choir Boy.
The next band and the headliner was destined to take me back to high-school. A Fire Inside from Ukiah, CA also referred to as AFI was taking the stage and was bound to be a complete contrast in energy. I was not wrong about that and I absolutely went fan boy inside the barricade when they opened with “Girls Not Grey”. Singing and shooting, trying not to jam too hard, when is this supposed to feel like work? Davey Havok took the stage by storm his vocals were second to none and his stage presence and crowd interaction was above reproach. The guitarist Jade Puget and the bassist Hunter Burgan came in just as hard. The drummer Adam Carson didn't miss a beat keeping everyone in time.

All the 40 somethings in the room were taken back to their youth for a few hours at this show. So many danced and sang to every song they performed. Other than a little fight in the back of the room (quickly managed by the outstanding staff) the energy brought by the band and given by the fans was palpable.
They played four songs (Holy Visions, Behind the Clock, Marguerite, and Nooneunderground) off of their most recent album “Silver Bleeds The Black Sun”. It made for a full set list. Although I did look it up from the night prior, I was delighted to see there were some changes made for our night at the Knitt to include one of my all time favorite songs “Miss Murder” which they performed to close the night out. This also suggests that the set list is ever changing and no one show will have the exact same songs which is something I personally really like and helps keep fans on their toes.

In closing I am extremely thankful I got to be at this show. Honestly so far this year Boise has had many great shows. This one is definitely at the top of that list, one of my favorites if not just for this year, but easily one of my favorite show to date. If AFI plays in your town I don’t recommend sitting on it. Get some tickets and go catch their show.
